Drawing a Snowflake

Step 1:

When working on this snowflake, you will notice a round central structure with several branches sticking out. To make things easier, you can use a pencil to draw a center circle shape which will help you locate the rest of the lines. You can then draw the first two branches of this central circle shape. Each will be relatively thick and rounded, with a thin base with several round pieces.

Each of them will be of different sizes, with the closest to the base being the widest. Some things might look confusing, but it should get much easier when you see the reference image! For now, we’ll draw two of these branches on the left and then draw smaller curved lines with spaces around the circular center.

Step 2:

It will mirror what you did in the previous step of our how-to draw a snowflake guide as we add two more branches to the snowflake. These will go to the right, filling in the spaces we left between the curved lines around the center. They will be identical to the previous branches, only mirrored. Once these are drawn, there will be two more small spaces at the top and bottom of the center, which we will fill in shortly.

Step 3:

We mentioned the remaining spaces in the center of the snowflake in the previous step, and we’ll fill in the bottom one in the next step. To do this, we’ll draw another of the branches, but this time, we will expand downward. Apart from that, it will have the same structure as the previous chapters. The trick to drawing a snowflake is to make sure all the branches are the same and symmetrical, so try to make them all as similar as possible! Once this arm is drawn, we’ll add the last one in the next step.

Step 4:

You do a great job on this snowflake design! In this fourth step, we will complete the last branch of this drawing. You know what to do now because this branch will be identical to the previous ones! This branch will, of course, fill the last space left in the center of the snowflake.

Once it’s drawn, you can erase any pencil lines you drew to help with the previous step. That’s all there is to this step, and you’ll be ready for the final details in the next phase of the guide!
