5 Things Mentors Wish Their Young Mentees Knew

Five Proven Ways to Enhance Your Leadership Skills

The relation between mentor and mentee is like senior and junior. Most mentors respond positively to the mentees who present improvement in their efforts rather than being into downfall.

The role of a mentor is to provide guidance and support to the mentee to help them in the improvement of their professional and personal skills. A mentor plays various roles to help their mentee in their development to achieve their goals. Well, to make the guidance of their mentor successful, the mentees have to learn and gain as much knowledge as they can from the mentor. The role of the mentee is less important than the mentor but they also play a crucial role in the relationship.

Here are five things mentors wish their young mentee knew:

Clarify their need:

If you are seeking a mentor, must do clarify what kind of support you need. While many mentees are aspiring to become physicians or scientists, then they require formal and long-term guidance and others may need short-term guidance.

Choose wisely:

Well, the first thing is to know what you need and the other thing is to find the right person. Your mentor can affect your success and happiness. Try to find a mentor whom you can easily relate to, who shares the same goal, and understand your priorities. Find a mentor whom you think you want to become, make sure they are up for the challenge.

Underpromise and overdeliver:

Mentors are looking for those who actually work on what they promise means those that finish what they started. So make sure to follow these golden rules. If we talk about ideal mentees few things are common in most of them, they are enthusiastic, energetic, organized, and focused. Thus try to lean to underpromise and overdeliver.

Mind your mentor’s time:

Well, the main reason for a mentor for being successful is because they manage their time wisely, often doing multiple tasks at a time to ensure their success. So, you need to learn to respect your mentor’s time. Your mentor’s time is important, so try to use it in the best way in their physical presence and also when they are not with you because this is the way to success.

Be engaged and energizing:

The mentees with full energy and excitement are the best to work with because they come to work with full enthusiasm, excitement, and eagerness. Mentors have mainly focused on mentees who have these qualities. Never try to complain about your situation or anybody else.

If some problem arises, try to use it as your growth improvement.
